MetaTerra in Talks With Colombia’s Agriculture Minister on Tokenizing Farm Products

Douglas C. Anderson, MetaTerra Holdings, together with Colombia's Minister of Agriculture Indalecio Dangond and a colleague in Bogotá

Bogotá, Colombia, August 19, 2026 – Douglas C. Anderson, a board member of MetaTerra Holdings, has met with Colombia’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Indalecio Dangond, for talks on tokenizing the country’s agricultural assets.

The meeting focused on how blockchain-based tokenization – representing physical assets digitally – could create new financing and investment models for strategically important Colombian crops, including coffee, cocoa, and potatoes.

The discussions are described as a step in MetaTerra’s broader strategy of building alternative, real-asset-backed financing models in developing economies, connecting agricultural production with digital financial infrastructure. The company is reportedly also evaluating additional markets, including Singapore, Hong Kong, and Brazil, where tokenization regulations are further along.

The news of the meeting comes as MetaTerra expands its presence in Colombia more broadly. According to Colombian business media (Semana, August 2026), the company has also appointed Felipe Saenz Manrique to lead its local operations, targeting assets within energy, tourism, and infrastructure.
